Matthew Rowean’s work is focused on exploring compositional relationships of color shape and texture in abstract form. Studying first at the Rhode Island School of Design pre college program, Rowean then received a BFA in painting from Syracuse University. His paintings often times reflect his background as a traditionally trained designer and the struggle to reconcile the formalities of that discipline with the more emotional aspects of painting.While showing in several group exhibitions over the past decade, Rowean also contributes pieces regularly to charitable organizations such as the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Foundation,&nbsp;Russell simmons’s Rush Arts Gallery, and the Doing Art Together organization.
